Analysts from Sensor Tower made the top 10 countries in terms of App Store spending per capita. It turned out that no country in the world can compare with Japan in this indicator.

In total, from 2012 to 2017, the Japanese spent $27.1 billion on apps, subscriptions and IAP. Approximately 126.8 million people live in the country. Thus, there is $214 per citizen.

This is 88% more than the second country in the top – Australia. Australians spent $2.8 billion, but the country’s population is significantly smaller – 24.6 million people. The whole top looks like this:

Interestingly, in 2012, spending from Japan and the United States per capita was at the same level, and in 2017, the Japanese spent 168% more:

There is no China in the top 10 – it is only on the 23rd place of the rating. In five years, the country’s residents have spent $25 billion, but this is relatively small, considering the huge population – there are only $18 per person.

The top 10 did not include several other countries where residents spent more than $1 billion: South Korea (13th place, $41 per person), France (17th place, $29 per person), Germany (21st place, $26 per person) and Russia (28th place, $9 per person).
