The German publisher and developer of mobile games Wooga announced a 10% reduction in staff. The company decided to stop creating midcore projects and focus on a casual audience.

40 employees will lose their jobs. The remaining 360 people will be divided between three internal studios according to their specializations (puzzles, hidden objects and simulators).

“In order to remain competitive in the increasingly mature mobile gaming industry, we decided to focus exclusively on casual genres,” said Wooga CEO Jens Begemann.

Recall that in the spring of this year, Wooga announced the creation of an internal studio Black Anvil Games, which was supposed to take up the development of midcore strategies. The staff of the new studio consisted of just 40 people. Her first game was supposed to be the Warlords project, very similar in combat mechanics to Braveland.
