Wargaming UK has absorbed the British studio Edge Case Games. Thus, the British staff of the creator of World of Tanks has been replenished with 32 new employees.
Edge Case Games has developed a Fractured Space space simulator. In two years, its audience has reached 5 million users. At the end of October, the studio announced that it was stopping updating the game, although the servers would be running indefinitely. This move marked the studio’s readiness for a takeover.
Developers who have moved to Wargaming UK will join the work on an unnamed multiplatform MMO. There are no details about the project, except for the name of the engine — Unreal Engine 4.
Edge Case Games and I have been looking for a partnership opportunity for many years. The studio has an excellent background, which corresponds to Wargaming's plans for future games, because Edge Case Games create free-play MMO based on the Unreal engine.
Head of Wargaming UK
The head of Wargaming UK, Sean Decker, said that the company will no longer absorb other studios. She will expand her new office in Guildford by simply hiring new employees.
