A psychological thriller about Japanese schoolgirls shows an excellent result on Steam. An anime game from an American developer has gathered an audience of 2 million players in four months.
This was recently announced by the founder and designer of Team Salvato, Dan Salvato, in his Twitter feed.
Doki Doki Literature Club has reached 2 million downloads! Hasn’t it only been a month since the 1 million mark? What the heck is happening?

Таких высоких показателей проект достиг благодаря сарафанному радио и большому вниманию к игре со стороны инфлюенсеров. К примеру, PewDiePie has given the project as many as six streams.
The game is a story pretending to be a traditional visual novel about how four schoolgirls invited the main character of the game to become a member of their literary club. The way the plot develops after the first half of the game has led to the success of Doki Doki Literature Club!.
The free-of-charge nature of the game also played a role in high downloads.
In general, projects in this genre are popular on Steam. For example, the audience of projects of the publisher Winged Cloud, specializing in paid visual novels, often reaches 200 thousand. The audience of many projects of another publisher of anime novels – Sekai Project – regularly reaches 100 thousand.
