In the French version of CS:Now there is an “X-ray for loot boxes”, and now users see their contents. You might think that Valve has made a concession to French players, but not everything is so simple.
The mechanics work like this:
- all CS:GO loot boxes (cases or capsules) must pass through the so-called “X-ray scanner” before purchase;
- the player selects and “shines through” the loot box, sees its contents;
- if a player buys a loot box, he will be able to “enlighten” the next one;
- if the player does not buy a loot box, then the box will remain in the “X-ray scanner”, it is impossible to “enlighten” the next one.
This means that Valve has not made any drastic changes to the loot box mechanics. The player still cannot choose containers with loot of interest to him. The only difference is that the contents of the box are visible before the purchase.
Valve introduced this feature with the latest CS:GO update. The innovation extends only to France so far. It would be more logical to see such mechanics, for example, in the Belgian version of the game, since Belgium is an irreconcilable fighter against loot boxes, and the French authorities are more loyal to them.
However, according to PC Games Insider, in France, Valve can simply test this feature. Or she is preparing for possible changes in local legislation.
Note: at the same time, Valve banned French CS users:GO buy loot boxes on the Steam Trading Platform. But they can still be sold.
