Two-thirds of users will prefer to “pay” for the game by watching video clips. And the most unloved format is IAP. Unity came to such conclusions based on the results of its own research.
The survey was conducted among two thousand mobile users and developers.
Of the players surveyed, 71% said that video advertising is the most preferred way to “pay” for games. Moreover, 54% noted that they would choose a rewarded video from all formats. And 11% is just a full-screen video.
18% of respondents would prefer to buy a premium game.
In-game purchases turned out to be the least favorite way to pay for the game. Only 11% of respondents chose IAP.
As for developers, 52% called video advertising the most profitable, 62% noticed an increase in revenue after the format was included in the game, and 86% reported that with the introduction of video advertising, revenue from IAP remained the same or even increased. Only 10% of respondents noticed a drop in revenue.
Responses were accepted from users of any mobile platforms. It is emphasized that not only those who use Unity were interviewed: “Developers shared data regardless of which engine or software they prefer.”
