At the Gamelab conference in Barcelona, Ubisoft executive producer Jade Raymond accused the mobile games market of a lack of innovation. 

Today, mobile games, as a relatively new phenomenon, but at the same time extremely common, are the subject of fierce criticism from apologists, conditionally, of classic hardcore gaming. 

For example, there is often an opinion that there are no worthwhile projects on the App Store and Google Play. This controversial judgment leads to the fundamental question of what should be considered “games” rather than to a constructive conversation. 

After the success of Flappy Bird, there was also an opinion that mobile games are re-passing the path of the “big industry”, in which very complex projects were once valued.

It seems that Jade Raymond, executive producer of Ubisoft, has a similar point of view.

Jade Raymond”Mobile games have attracted many people to games, but there has not been a creative boom here,” Jade said.

What is perceived as an innovation is a reworking of 40-year-old game design with the addition of gambling, where the main thing is money.”
