Ubisoft studio in Casablanca, with 48 employees, ceases its work 18 years after its foundation.
The Moroccan division of the French gaming giant specialized in games for mobile platforms and portable consoles. In particular, its employees participated in the development of Rayman (Adventures, Legends and Fiesta Run), Child of Light and Valiant Hearts. In some cases, it was about co-development. For example, Adventures was created jointly with Ubisoft Montpellier.
“Unfortunately, the video game market has changed a lot in recent years. We have not found an effective formula for the studio within our wide network,” explained Ubisoft Mobile Executive Director Jean-Michel Detoc.
Could this decision be related to the change of course of Ubisoft itself after the takeover of Gameloft by Vivendi? Or is the reason for the failure of Rayman Adventures? So far, these are unanswered questions.
