Ubisoft CEO and co-founder Yves Guillemot predicted the end of the console race in the foreseeable future. He believes that the next generation of gaming platforms will be the last, and then the gaming industry will completely switch to streaming games from cloud servers.

Guillemot shared such opinions with the publication Variety.

According to the head of Ubisoft, migration from individual platforms to the cloud base contributes to the development of AAA titles. So users will no longer be limited by the power of their hardware and will be able to play on any device capable of receiving a data stream: mobile devices, televisions, and so on.

Guillemot admits that game streaming technologies are still imperfect and unavailable in some parts of the world. But he believes that these problems will be solved within the next few years.

In the long term, new game formats and technologies will allow us to reach a much wider audience. Therefore, we are investing in our online platform, which is already used by 88 million people. We are also developing artificial intelligence that studies the profiles of gamers and helps them get the best gaming experience.

Ubisoft are not the only ones who see prospects in streaming games from the cloud. Sony, Electronic Arts, Valve and other major gaming companies already have similar projects and services.
