The French publisher Ubisoft announced the purchase of the studio FreeStyleGames from Activision. The studio is known for DJ Hero and multiplatform Guitar Hero Live.
The new name of the studio is Ubisoft Leamington. It will be directed by Richard Blenkinsop, who has worked as a producer on projects such as Blur, Rome: Total War and Call of Duty 3.
In addition to Ubisoft Leamington, Blenkinsop is also the new head of Ubisoft Reflections studio. She participated in the development of Watch Dogs 2, Tom Clancy’s The Division, Far Cry 3 and other Ubisoft games.
FreeStyleGames was founded in 2002 by former Codemasters and Rare employees. In September 2008, it was acquired by Activision. In April 2016, the publisher undertook the restructuring of the studio. The reason is the sales of Guitar Hero Live that do not satisfy the company.
