76% of employees of game studios are forced to work beyond the established norm. And a third of them have no one paying for recycling.
This is evidenced by the survey data of the International Game Developers Association (IGDA).
IGDA director Kate Edwards noted that over the 13 years of observation, the percentage of overwork among game developers has decreased, but work outside of hours remains commonplace for this industry.
According to the survey, 65% of developers recycle regularly, another 32% take extra hours periodically. 89% of respondents admitted that they do not receive payment for processing. Instead of money, they are encouraged with food and time off. 34% of respondents have no compensation at all.
On average, game studio employees spend 10 to 20 hours a week on overtime.
The report compares the salaries of freelancers and HR employees. Half of the surveyed freelancers earn less than $ 15 thousand a year, while the salaries of 60% of employees in the state reach $50 thousand and above.
