Russians began to spend much less on tablets. Over the last quarter, our compatriots spent almost 40% less on “pills” than a year earlier.
According to Cnews with reference to IDC, in July-September of this year, 39.6% fewer tablets were sold in monetary terms in Russia than in the same period of 2014. Of course, this is no longer the 49% drop observed in the second quarter, but it is still quite significant.
However, what’s funny is that in unit terms, sales decreased far less significantly – by 14.9%, which indicates that users are switching to choosing much cheaper devices than before.
Actually, the presence of such know-how companies as Irbis, Oysters and Digma in the top five sales leaders speaks about this. Plus, of course, the fact that the average price of a tablet in Russia at the end of the third quarter was $ 150.
In general, Android tablets occupied 90.7% of the Russian market, followed by Windows tablets with 5.5% (!), and closes the top sales with a market share of 3.8% of iPads.
All this suggests that despite the growth of the characteristics of top-end devices, if a developer wants to continue earning from the Russian market, then he should adapt his products to budget solutions.
Yes, we understand that the IAP is not paid by the audience that is spent on tablets costing up to $ 150, but no one has canceled such an income item as advertising.
