Beta testing of the new Steam library starts on September 17. It will be open to all users of the store.
The public beta test is reported here. Valve introduced the upcoming changes to Steam this spring.
The most notable of them is the library’s home page. It will host news and updates, game covers (their size is easy to customize), panels with the actions of the user and his friends, as well as an advanced search for games by keywords.
In addition, players will be notified of events. This means: about updates or limited events in games.
With this innovation, it will be easier for the developer than before to bring news to users. In the same way, it will be possible to inform them about the beginning of the video broadcast or about contests. For all this, Valve has developed special new tools.
Recall that the templates with the covers of games on Steam will change. Back in the summer, Valve published useful links that will help design the game page according to the new standard. Developers are encouraged to create new covers before beta testing begins. Otherwise, Steam will set the appearance of the page itself.
