App Annie has published lists of the most popular and profitable mobile games in March 2017. Dragon Nest and Ballz were among the most successful projects of the month.

Top 10 Download Companies (iOS, March 2017)

In March, on the iOS platform, Ubisoft was among the top ten leaders in global game downloads. The company, taking second place, was ahead of such giants as Vivendi (Gameloft) and Electronic Arts. This happened thanks to the success of the minimalistic Ballz, which was released in March by Ketchapp Studio, just owned by Ubisoft today.

The South Korean BitMango also got into the top ten.

She also released a minimalistic game in March – Make Hexa!, in which the player must build hexes from triangles.

The absolute leader in game downloads on Google Play in March was Nintendo. Compared to last months, it has risen by 48 positions at once. The reason is the release of Super Mario Run.

Also in the top for the first time was the Chinese Tencent. Now the Miniclip account of the Swiss company is behind her (the takeover itself happened much earlier – in February 2015). It is possible that soon the Chinese will have an account also belonging to them Supercell.

The main hit of Miniclip is an 8 Ball Pool billiard simulator in which players compete with each other in real time.

There were no significant changes in the top of the most profitable game publishers in March on iOS. The main party is still played by the Chinese – Tencent and NetEase. Both are followed by large mobile MMO releases, designed primarily for the local market. It’s about Honor of Kings, Dragon Nest, Fantasy Westward Journey and Ghost.

The throne of the most profitable Android gaming publisher has been held by Netmarble since December last year. For this, the company should thank the extraordinary success of Lineage II: Revolution in the local market (South Korea).

The Chinese Elex Technology, the author of Clash of Kings, the eastern reading of Game of War, returned to the top ten. Perhaps very soon the company will rise even higher in the top. The worldwide release of her Total War: King’s Return strategy is just around the corner.

7 out of 10 projects in the top of the most downloaded iOS games in March are published by Chinese companies. Including the main novelty of the month – Dragon Nest, the mobile version of the homonymous desktop MMORPG from Eyedentity Games.

There are fewer Chinese on Google Play for obvious reasons. The store still does not function in China and, accordingly, there are no downloads from there that significantly affect the rating. The main projects of the month here are Super Mario Run and Toy Blast, which jumped 28 positions up, published on iOS in China by iDreamSky.

By revenue on iOS, most games are also in the top of Chinese origin. As in the top iOS downloads, Dragon Nest became the main novelty in the iOS box office chart. Supercell currently has only one game in the collection – Clash Royale.

The first place in terms of revenue from Google Play now remains for Lineage II: Revolution. The already middle-aged Japanese battler Monster Strike is in second place. Sony is also confident in the chart. Her Fate/Grand Order project closes the top three.
