Of the $113.3 billion that the video game industry will earn in 2018, 39% will be for games for smartphones and tablets, Newzoo reports in its latest report.
The Chinese games market will earn $32.8 billion in three years, and the US games market will earn $24.1 billion. Thus, they will account for about half of all revenues from the gaming industry.
According to Newzoo analysts, revenues from mobile games in these regions will also be comparable: $6.5 billion from China versus $6 billion from the United States.
As for the projected results of 2015, it is expected that the industry will earn $91.5 billion in total. This is 9% more than a year earlier. Game revenue from all platforms China and the United States will be almost equal to each other: $22.2 billion and $22 billion, respectively.
Latin America, which some are hoping for now, will earn only $4 billion. This is 5 times less than EMEA and 10 times less than the Asia-Pacific region.
If we talk about the distribution of income across platforms this year, then for mobile – $ 30 billion. Only the PC has more – $33.7 billion.
