The Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation has recognized a new sport — “interactive football”, equating it to mini-football and beach soccer.

The corresponding decision was approved in the order of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation No. 502 dated 09.06.2017.

“The recognition of cyber football (interactive football) as a discipline of football was the result of the coordinated and painstaking work of our colleagues,” said Alexander Alaev, President of the Russian Football Union (RFU).

He added that the RFU has started preparing the first ever official All-Russian mass cyber football competition.

It is planned to develop the new discipline in active cooperation with the Russian Computer Sports Federation.

In addition, a subcommittee on interactive football was created in the RFU Committee on Varieties of Football, which will also contribute to the formation of Russian cyber football.
