Square Enix will implement the “game-service” model in new single-player titles, said the company’s CEO Yosuke Matsuda. He clarified that he does not mean loot boxes and microtransactions.
According to Matsuda, “game service” is a broad concept that includes both monetization through in-game purchases and long—term support of the project so that players can enjoy it for as long as possible.
Yosuke Matsuda assured that Square Enix will continue to create and release single-player games.
Along with this, the company Eidos Montreal, part of Square Enix, recently announced its readiness to switch to the development of online projects. To do this, the studio opened a number of vacancies, among which was a leading multiplayer programmer.
