The head of Activision Publishing, Eric Hirshberg, announced his imminent departure from the company. Hirschberg will not renew the contract with the company, which expires on March 31 this year.
Eric Hirschberg has worked at Activision Publishing since 2010. With his participation, the company launched the Destiny franchise, and the Call of Duty series games published during this period brought in large revenues. For example, Call of Duty: Black Ops II earned $1 billion in the first 15 days.
The company noted that during his work Hirshberg has achieved “historic success” and leaves on a high note, having completed 2017 extremely successfully.
Released under his leadership, Call of Duty: WWII and Destiny 2 became the most profitable games of the past year in North America.
“Eric is an inspiring leader and his talent and perseverance will be sorely missed. He leaves the team, franchises and business in great shape. I am deeply grateful and fully support Hirshberg,” commented Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick on the resignation of his colleague.
In his statement about his imminent departure, Hirshberg thanked his colleagues and Bobby Kotick for working together and the opportunity to embody his creative vision. He did not tell what he plans to do after leaving the company.
Activision has started searching for candidates for the position of the new head of the publishing house.
