The author of the indie horror series Five Nights at Freddy’s, Scott Cawthon, abandoned the development of the sixth part of the game.
According to the game designer, he was just tired of doing this project.
“After forcing myself to work on the game every day, I realized that I didn’t want to continue. Each new part should be better than the previous one, but I’m tired of neglecting things that are important to me in order to meet growing expectations,” Coughton said.
The developer promised not to abandon the creation of games at all, but only to “make it fun again.” He added that he would like to take up an economic strategy about a chain of pizzerias in the future.
The original Five Nights at Freddy was released in August 2014 on PC and Android, and the following month on iOS. The sequel appeared in December of the same year, the third part and the fourth part — in March and July 2015. After a six-month break, Coughton released two more projects: the role-playing prequel Five Nights at Freddy’s World and the fifth part of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister’s Location.
In addition to games, Coughton co-authored two novels based on the Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise he invented. In May of this year, Blumhouse began filming the film adaptation. Scott also said that he is working on a VR project.
