Game designer Francisco Gonzalez has officially announced his departure from the indie studio Wadjet Eye Games.

Gonzalez stopped working at Wadjet Eye on a permanent basis back in April last year, but decided not to disclose this fact in order not to damage the Shardlight quest, which was released a month earlier.

“Shardlight was a success, but due to a series of unfortunate circumstances and disagreements, I could no longer stay at Wadjet Eye. We parted without enmity, but decided not to make it public and avoid questions that would overshadow the successful launch of the game,” Francisco Gonzales said in his blog.

He added that the stumbling block between him and Wadjet Eye director Dave Gilbert was the game Lamplight City, which was Francisco’s personal project.

Their creative views have diverged so much that Gonzales is now looking for a new publisher for his work.

Commenting on Gonzalez’s departure to Rock Paper Shotgun, Dave Gilbert said that he respects the decision and creative vision of his former colleague.
