Children in China have been blocked from having round-the-clock access to games. According to The Wall Street Journal, Tencent will soon introduce time limits on gaming sessions for Chinese minors.

So, up to 12 years old, players will be able to play their favorite titles for no more than an hour a day.
For players from 13 to 18 years old, the daily rate of stay in the game will increase for two hours. All underage players will be blocked from accessing the games from 21:00 to 8:00.
With these restrictions, Tencent intends to fight child gambling addiction. Chinese schoolchildren often skip classes and even forget to sleep because they spend too much time in games like Honor of Kings. By the way, this game already has a system for registering and recognizing players’ faces. By the end of the year, it will appear in 10 more mobile games, and in 2019 — in all other titles.
In order to identify the players, the company will require the assignment of a real person’s state ID to each account. Then the company will start checking the ID against government databases to establish the identity and age of the player.
