The Chinese Internet corporation Tencent is thinking about the prospect of publishing mobile games in the Snapchat messenger. This became known a week after Tencent bought a 12% stake in Snapchat-owned company Snap Inc.
On November 8, Tencent acquired 145.8 million shares of Snap Inc. The amount of the transaction is not specified.
“After investing in Snapchat, Tencent is exploring opportunities to collaborate with Messenger in terms of publishing mobile games and hosting news feeds,” Tencent said in a press release.
Representatives of Snap Inc have not yet commented on the statement of their business partner.
Last year, Snapchat already experimented with messenger games — the company introduced several playable lenses (filters that add various effects to Snapchat video selfies), including sponsored content. But all these projects existed for a limited time.
