Take-Two shares Capcom and Ubisoft’s interest in the cloud streaming market, but does not yet see a business model suitable for publishers on it.

The publisher of Red Dead Redemption 2 is closely monitoring how things are with Microsoft and Google with their cloud services.

At the moment, according to Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick, companies should focus on solving two problems. The first is related to the delay in response to streaming services (after all, it is critically important for streaming that shooters, RPGs, strategies and others react quickly enough to the player’s actions). And this problem, according to Take-Two, will be resolved soon.

However, in parallel with this, cloud service developers should work on creating a business model that will allow publishers to distribute their products and reach consumers in ways that are convenient for them.

Any technology that will reduce the distance between us and a large audience is always good.

Strauss Zelnik

CEO Take-Two

Cloud streaming opens up great opportunities for Take-Two and other publishers to distribute their titles. Take-Two itself, according to Zelnik, was one of the first to support the cloud trend and is now waiting only for the creation of the business model mentioned by him.

Recall that this fall, Google began closed testing of Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Odyssey in its cloud — Project Stream. The company, according to its press release, has already managed to reduce the response delay to a minimum. How Microsoft, which announced the Project xCloud service after Google, coped with this is still unknown.
