The analytical company Quantic Foundry has found out the gender preferences of video game fans when choosing a game character. It turned out that 75% of the women surveyed, if possible, will play the protagonist of their gender.
To the question “Is it important for you to be able to play a female character”, 56.8% of girls answered “Extremely important”, and another 19.5% — “Very important”.
For comparison, among male gamers, 16.4% and 17.1% of respondents gave similar answers.

In addition, the survey revealed that hardcore players attach less importance to the gender of game characters than ordinary gamers.

According to the results of the Quantic Foundry survey, the genres where female characters are most in demand were named. These are role-playing MMO, action-adventure and open-world games with a strong storyline.
According to analysts, adding female protagonists to such titles will attract a new audience in the face of female gamers.
