We study the Steam sales chart for the 43rd week of the year, and at the same time explain what the new Modern Warfare II series Call of Duty is.

#1 and #3

On October 28, the release of the continuation of the relaunch of Call of Duty Modern Warfare II took place. If you are confused by the term “restart continuation”, then this is really a bit of a confusing story.

Modern Warfare is a sub–series of Call of Duty. It started in 2007 with the release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. In 2009, its direct sequel Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II was released, and in 2011 – Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

Then it was decided to restart the sub-series. And in 2019, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was released, an absolute new game, but with the same heroes. In 2020, remasters of the original dilogy were released, and now Call of Duty Modern Warfare II is being released, which is a continuation of Call of Duty from 2019.

There are definitely naming issues here. In fact, we are talking about the 19th part of Call of Duty.

And the project turned out to be very expected. In terms of weekly revenue, it outpaced Steam Deck sales, which has not been possible for any game since almost the spring of this year.

Steam Deck has just moved to the second position in terms of sales in monetary terms.

#4, #7 and #8

The third part of the geopolitical hardcore strategy series Victoria has started well. Despite the harsh criticism (the project is accused of technical dampness and a small amount of content at the start of sales), the audience is apparently hungry for such games (they are also sometimes called contour map simulators). The game took three places in the chart at once.

Victoria 3#5

A 50% discount allowed Cyberpunk 2077 to return to the chart immediately in fifth place. The game’s scores are also growing. 90% of recent reviews in the store are positive.

#6

Persona 5 Royale immediately dropped from the third position to the sixth. The game, which was released on October 21, has very high user ratings. The rating of the project at the moment is 93%.

#9

Biotech‘s addition to the indie manager of the alien colony RimWorld shows a better box office on Steam in the second week of sales than such blockbusters as UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection and Gotham Knights, which disappeared from the chart altogether.

RimWorld: Biotech #10

Football Manager 2023 pre-orders from SEGA also showed a good retention. Once again, we note the irony of the situation: on Steam, a football team manager simulator is more actively predicted than action-packed novelties are bought.
