The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt 4 years after its release beats its own popularity record. Its peak online on Steam exceeded 94 thousand players.
Data provided by the service SteamCharts. As previously reported App2Top.ru , the previous record for simultaneous online was 92 thousand. It was recorded in the year of the game’s release.
The interest of players in “The Witcher 3” began to grow sharply last week. The online peak rose to 50,000 people and reached a three-year high at that time. This event was associated with the release of The Witcher series on Netflix and the Christmas sale on Steam.
Nevertheless, the growth has not stopped. Thanks to this, Wild Hunt reached the 7th place in the Steam popularity chart. The increase in players is also observed in its predecessors:
- The original The Witcher also broke its record with an online peak of 12,000 players;
- and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings has a four—year maximum of the simultaneous number of players (6 thousand).
Also recall: recently, the publisher of games about the witcher, CD Projekt, renegotiated the contract with the author of the saga Andrzej Sapkowski. The publisher has received new rights to release products on The Witcher IP. And a new rise in the popularity of the franchise is likely to spur CD Projekt to its development.
