Japanese developer and publisher Square Enix has assembled a new division that will create titles for the Nintendo Switch console. This was told by Square Enix game producer Tomoya Asano to the Game Informer publication.
According to Asano, the team to work on games for Switch took shape back in April 2018 and is now working on several new titles.
Tomoya Asano has already worked on titles for Nintendo handhelds. He previously produced the release of Final Fantasy and Bravely series games on the Nintendo DS and 3DS.
Square Enix’s first release on Switch will be the Octopath Traveler role-playing game, which will be released on the platform on July 13. As reported on the Nintendo website, Octopath Traveler will be a Switch-exclusive.
Earlier, Square President Yosuke Matsuda stated that Nintendo Switch gives his company a great chance to create new franchises and restart old Square Enix titles on the Nintendo platform.
