In April, Snapchat messenger will enter the gaming platform market. At the closed Snap Partner summit, he will announce the launch of Project Cognac.

This is a mobile platform that will be integrated into Snapchat itself. It will allow you to launch third-party games via messenger, according to Cheddar. Note that Project Cognac is a working title. The official name of the gaming platform may be different.

The fact that Snap Inc. is preparing its own gaming platform became known in June last year. It was reported that the company agreed with an unnamed game publisher to release a number of titles as part of its future game project. In 2018, it also acquired the developer Prettygreat and the startup PlayCanvas, which owns the game engine of the same name.

According to Midia analysts, 58% of Snapchat users are mobile gamers, and 40% play on consoles. The share of players among the messenger audience is greater than among the audience of many other social networks. That’s why Snap Inc.’s desire to fully enter the gaming market looks logical.

The first ever Snap Inc. summit for developers and partners, where Project Corgac will be presented, will be held on April 4 in Los Angeles. Its slogan is “Less talk. More games.”
