With the approval and on the SteamSpy database (Sergey Galenkin’s statistical service that collects a wide range of data from Steam) the site App2Top.ru begins to regularly analyze and publish the Top 10 trending games of the Valve digital distribution platform.
Every week we will publish the top ten trending games from Steam that are relevant for Friday.
The top trending games on SteamSpy are formed not only based on sales, but also based on mentions of projects in the media and streaming services. As Galenkin previously noted in his blog: Steam Spy shows data based on the last three days.
The greatest interest among the audience at the moment is caused by the recently released full-fledged release after almost three years of beta testing of Starbound from Chucklefish Games, which recently very successfully published Stardew Valley (sales of this indie game reached 1 million in two months). Starbound, thanks to Early Access, has long since crossed this mark. Now the project has more than two million purchases (on Steam).
The second place is also for the ”sandbox” – RimWorld. The project with minimalist graphics about the construction of a colony in the border world has been in early access for more than two weeks and all this time attracts the keen interest of media and streamers. In a commercial sense, the project is also successful (for indie). The number of copies of the game sold is about 160 thousand.
Another successful product in terms of sales can be called Poly Bridge, a puzzle game in which the player must build complex bridges that perform certain tasks. In two weeks, the game, now in eighth place in the trending top (where, by the way, it was recently in the top three), was bought about 190 thousand times.
The rest of the trending projects included in the top cannot boast even 50 thousand sales. For example, a very bright Furi slasher, built on boss battles and made in an unusual “neon” style, barely overcame the 15,000 threshold since the beginning of July. Perhaps the reason for this is the relatively high price of $24 for an indie project. However, RimWorld’s higher price tag did not prevent it from gaining more purchases in a shorter period.
We also note the unexpected great interest in the Steam launch of Kingdom Rush Frontiers, released by Ironhide Game Studio three years ago on mobile platforms.
