Between Israel and Iraq is the Kingdom of Jordan, which is home to 10 million people. In this country, suffering today from the influx of refugees from Syria, they banned playing PUBG.
From July 6, PUBG in Jordan can no longer be played. It is blocked for local residents. As reported, “based on national interests.”
The ban was issued by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission. According to its representatives, many citizens and representatives of government structures asked to do this, complaining about its negative impact.
The final decision was made after the Commission got acquainted with the report of the World Health Organization, which, according to them, classified PUBG as a cruel game that causes addiction and leads to social isolation.
A week after the ban of PUBG, the Director of Beneficiary Affairs of the Commission said that six more projects, including Fortnite, may be in line. However, no final decision has been made on them yet.
Jordan is not the first country in the Middle East to ban games in the battle royale genre. PUBG and Fortnite were previously banned in Iraq. Also, the development of Bluehole Studio was banned in Asia — in Nepal and access to it was temporarily restricted in India.
