The executive director of Paradox Interactive, Ebba Ljungerud, spoke about the company’s immediate plans. It is going to acquire several more game studios, strengthen its influence in Asia and bring revenues from the mobile market to 10% in 2020.
Since 2017, Paradox Interactive has already acquired Triumph Studios, Harebrained Schemes, White Wolf Publishing and 33% of the Hardsuite Labs studio. According to Lyngerud, the company’s financial position remains stable, so it already has plans for new purchases. Paradox is going to “dig where it stands”, that is, consolidate its success in markets such as, for example, the United States.
The company will develop towards Asia with the support of the Chinese giant Tencent, which owns five percent of Paradox.
“Asia is a huge market, but it is not very clear which of our games are suitable for it,” Lyngerud said. “Anyway, it’s amazing when you have a partner like Tencent who is well versed in this market.”
As for mobile, although the company has little experience in developing mobile titles, its user base numbers seven million, with a MAU of two million users. This is a good foundation for a company that wants to take a prominent position in the mobile market.
