Finnish gaming company Next Games has acquired the studio Lume Games, specializing in augmented (AR) and mixed reality (MR) projects.
The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
After buying Lume Games and actively hiring employees, the staff of Nex Games grew from 24 to 93 employees.
Next Games will use these resources to develop its own AR-title. There are no details about this project yet.
It is known that in parallel with this, Next Games is designing another game based on the franchise of the movie “Blade Runner 2049” — the sequel to the cult sci-fi thriller “Blade Runner” in 1982.
The company also published its financial results for the first half of 2017, showing revenue of $22.6 million. This is 52% more compared to the previous year.
In the first 6 months of 2017, Next Games received €150,000 in profit, while the company closed the first half of 2016 with a loss of €3.5 million.
