The fastest growing segment of the mobile games market is Southeast Asia. The largest countries in the region are growing by an average of 45.7%, according to the analytical company Newzoo.

The most dynamic market is Indonesia. Its cumulative average annual growth rate is 60.7% (within the time period from 2016 to 2019). At the same time, mobile games earned $331 million in Indonesia last year.

For comparison, according to the results of 2015, the Russian mobile games market earned a little more than $351 million, according to Newzoo.

Analysts predict that in 2017, the Southeast Asian mobile games market will be able to earn $1.4 billion. By 2019, they expect it to surpass the current earnings of the Eastern European market in terms of revenue, reaching $3.9 billion.

The total number of mobile players in the six largest countries of the region is 132 million people. Most of all – in Indonesia: 40 million. But there are a lot of them in the Philippines and Vietnam – 30 million each.

Newzoo explains the high rates of market development by the rapid spread of mobile devices in the region; a solid number of mobile players – by the “mobility” of countries where other gaming platforms have a lower level of penetration.

The company also talked about the highest-grossing mobile games in the regions. For example, Minecraft: Story Mode, according to data, turned out to be the leader in revenue in Thailand in October of this year on Android.

We urge you to treat these tops with caution, since Minecraft: Story Mode in October in Thailand was not even included in the hundred highest-grossing games of the country on Google Play.
