On September 25, Mario Kart Tour will be launched on mobile devices. Pre-registration for the game is already available in both the App Store and Google Play.
Nintendo announced plans to release a racing simulator for Android and iOS (on iPhone and iPad) a year and a half ago. The original release date was March 2019. But in the end it was moved for six months.
Nintendo announced the launch day on its Twitter. A gameplay video of the project also appeared:
The title will be shareware. According to 9to5mac, the player may need in-game purchases to advance through the levels. Prices in the Mario Kart Tour store range from $1.99 to $69.99, according to data from the App Store.
Mario Kart Tour will offer players various tracks (including in Paris, New York and other famous cities). New racers, as well as new cars, will be issued for participation and winning races. New tracks will also be opened gradually.
Note that in the Mario series there have already been games developed only for mobile. The latest one, Dr. Mario World, was released quite recently, in July. It earned $1.4 million in its release month — much less than the previous four Nintendo mobile games. For comparison: Another mobile Mario title – Super Mario Run — raised $30.5 million in the first month.
