In five months, Microsoft was able to sell only 1.5 million tablets under the Surface brand.

According to Cnews with reference to Bloomberg, from October last year to March this year, the company sold 1.1 million Surface RT. Microsoft also managed to sell 400 thousand Surface Pro, a tablet running the full version of Windows 8, which appeared on the shelves on February 9.

The results achieved are far from expected. The Redmond company expected to sell about 3 million tablets by the end of 2012.

Low sales are due to many reasons: a long delay between the American and global releases, a crude system, a small number of software and high cost.

For comparison, 22.9 million Apple iPads and 2.4 million Nexus 7s from Asus and Google were sold in the 4th quarter.
