The head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, is not sure that the company should maintain a partnership with Nintendo. The placement of titles on the Switch console is under threat. But things could still change if a Japanese corporation agrees to support the Xbox Game Pass.

Spencer made this statement during a big interview with Kotaku. He stressed that the current relationship with Nintendo cannot be called sustainable, at least until Xbox has its own full-fledged ecosystem.

This means (appearing on the Switch platform) Xbox Live, Xbox Game Pass and other similar services.

Spencer has repeatedly expressed thoughts about the launch of Xbox services on competing platforms. However, as he noted in July, companies like Sony and Nintendo themselves have little interest in such a partnership.

Nevertheless, Spencer called the collaboration with Nintendo “positive.” According to him, both corporations understand each other well and work together in an attempt to expand the market.

Previously, Xbox ported two of its games to Switch: Cuphead and Ori and the Blind Forest. And more recently, a couple of Minecraft characters, which belongs to Microsoft, appeared in Super Smash Bros.Ultimate.
