Microsoft announced the purchase of the PlayFab cloud service. It offers tools for developing, launching and analyzing games that work with cloud data.
The amount of the transaction was not disclosed.
Microsoft plans to use PlayFab to develop the gaming direction of its own Azure cloud platform.
PlayFab was launched in 2014. The startup offers gaming services (setting up user engagement, multiplayer, leaderboards), analytics (with dashboards and A/V testing) and tools for working with the project in real time (messages, adding new content, conducting in-game promotions).
PlayFab supports games for PC, consoles and mobile devices.
During the existence of the platform, more than 700 million people have used it. Today, PlayFab provides 1.2 thousand titles. Her clients include Disney, Bandai Namco, Rovio, Capcom and Wizards of the Coast.
