The American company Kabam has acquired TapZen and Magic Pixel Games, two mobile game studios in Los Angeles.
These studios will merge into one under the leadership of TapZen founder, industry veteran Mike Verdu. As a result of the deal, the Kabam team will become 40 more people. In addition to the already mentioned Verdoux, Michael Seegers, who previously participated in the creation of games for EA, will appear in the state.
Kent Wakeford, executive director of Kabam, believes that the studio in Los Angeles will contribute to strengthening the company’s ties with Hollywood.
“We have already achieved success working with Hollywood studios and translating legendary stories into mobile games. So it is very important for us to have a studio in the heart of the entertainment capital [Los Angeles, – approx. editors] under the leadership of an industry veteran,” Wakeford said.”
In addition, the company recently announced the release of a “superhero” RPG based on the Marvel universe.
