Media giant Lionsgate believes that video games should play a significant role in the company’s future.
During the GamesBeat conference, Peter Levin, head of interactive products and games, said that the game industry should become a “pillar” of Lionsgate. The company will build its strategy of interaction with Internet media, bearing in mind close cooperation with igroprom.
Recall that the Canadian-American film studio owns the rights to popular franchises that are potentially interesting to game developers. The most notable of the Lionsgate–owned projects are the film trilogy “The Hunger Games”, “Divergent” and “The Expendables”.
The company has already released a mobile game The Hobbit: Kingdoms of Middle Earth together with Kabam studio.
Earlier this year, Lionsgate announced that it was going to open a division that would deal exclusively with games.
We should also add that the media company is actively investing in the Finnish startup Next Games.
