Russia ranks 11th in the world in terms of the turnover of the gaming market, the analytical company Newzoo has calculated. According to her, by the end of the year, the country’s market will earn $ 1.7 billion.
Today, 144.3 million people live in the country. Of these, Newzoo refers 65.2 million to gamers.
The most popular gaming platform among Russians is desktop. In the same segment, there is the largest gender gap between players – 60% of men and 39% of women play on PC. 52% of men and 46% of women play on mobile at least once a month, and 21% and 13%, respectively, play on consoles.
The paying audience in the country is very active: 81% of paying players have spent on in-game purchases in the last six months. More than a third of players buy power-ups: 36% of men and 42% of women.
38% of Runet users watch video content related to games, and the majority are on dextope.
The audience of esports is not very large yet – only 8% of Russians who are aware of this phenomenon watch relevant content. The most popular competitive game among Russians is World of Tanks.
