Another Google project was under attack. The corporation announced that it was discontinuing game development for Stadia and closing internal studios. The platform itself will continue to work for now, but without exclusives.

The changes in the official blog of the company were announced by Stadia CEO Phil Harrison (Phil Harrison). According to him, the games’ own work turned out to be too expensive for Google. In particular, that is why the corporation decided to disband the Stadia Games and Entertainment division.

According to Kotaku, the company will close studios in Montreal and Los Angeles. This will affect about 150 developers. However, Google promised to find these employees new positions in the company.

Against the background of the incident, the company has already managed to leave the head of SG & E Jade Raymond (Jade Raymond), the producer of the first parts of Assassin’s Creed.

However, Google is not going to completely abandon Stadia. As Harrison stated, almost nothing will change for the players. Unless there will be no more new exclusives on the platform, except for a few previously planned ones. But third-party companies will now be able to buy technology from Google for streaming cloud gaming.

We will continue to invest in Stadia and the technologies behind it so that partners and the gaming community can get the best gaming experience. This has been our vision of Stadia from the very beginning. In 2021, we will redouble our efforts to ensure that developers and publishers take full advantage of our platform and deliver games directly to gamers.
