According to the results of 2014 in Germany, the revenue from Google Play turned out to be more than the same from Apple’s mobile app store, App Annie reports.

Google Play в Германии начал зарабатывать больше, чем App Store

Last year, Germany became the sixth market in the world by revenue with the App Store and Google Play. In Europe, it is overtaken only by the UK in terms of revenue. The main driver of market growth in the fourteenth was Google Play, whose revenues jumped by 70% in 12 months. As a result, the App Store for money now acts as a catch-up here.

This does not mean that it has stopped growing. That’s not so. The income of the German iOS in 2014 was 1.3 times more than the income of iOS a year earlier. But Google Play’s revenue turned out to be 2.5 times more than that earned by the same store at the end of 2013.

In terms of downloads, Google Play overtook the App Store in Germany back in mid-2012, just since then the gap has been steadily increasing. In 2014, there were 2 times more installations with Google Play than with the ApppStore.

Games are responsible for 85% of the revenue from Google Play in Germany. At least, this ratio turned out to be true at the end of January 2015. Moreover, revenues from Android games overtook revenues from iOS games in the middle of last year. Non-gaming revenues still mostly come from the App Store.

The segmentation of the revenue share by type of projects in Google Play looks particularly interesting. Last month, in total, not the top ten games brought the most money, but those that were located from 11th to 100th place in the box office top. It also turned out that a solid chunk of the total “snatched” those projects that were not included in the box office Top 100 at all. Important: a year ago the situation was fundamentally different. This indicates, among other things, the increased role of the “long tail of sales”.
