Not everyone is writing off HTML5 games. Last night Google presented the GameSnacks project. This is a platform with web games that are instantly launched in mobile browsers.

The platform was developed by a team of six people within the walls of Area 120, Google’s experimental incubator.

In it, the corporation’s employees are engaged in their own chamber products.

When creating GameSnacks, the developers proceeded from the concept that mobile gaming is unavailable or uncomfortable for owners of budget devices, for those who use 3G networks.

High loading time is just one of the factors that prevents you from enjoying games. Google estimates that half of mobile users leave a web page if it takes more than 3 seconds to load. The average web game loads on a device with 1 GB of RAM and memory and over a 3G connection for 12 seconds.

It is assumed that games hosted on the new platform run on weak smartphones and in conditions of low Internet connection speed much faster (the example says about 3-4 seconds). According to the founders of GameSnacks, Ani Mohan and Neel Rao, thereby, games become more accessible.

This speed is achieved not only thanks to the technological solutions used within the framework of the platform (their essence is to load the necessary assets after the launch of the game), but also a selection of projects. The platform features exclusively minimalistic casual games, as Google itself says about them, “the size of a byte”.

The key market for the platform will be Southeast Asia. Google has already announced a partnership with the Indonesian service Gojek (a local analogue of WeChat, which allows you to communicate, shop, order a taxi, and so on). In it, GameSnacks will become part of the GoGames entertainment platform running inside Gojek.

This is how GameSnacks on GoGames will look like
It is still unclear how the monetization of GameSnacks will be built.

Perhaps it will happen just through partners, and not through the platform. TechCrunch hints at this in its publication.

You can already get acquainted with the platform and its first games. All work both on mobile devices and from the desktop. There are no complex products among them. However, they are simpler even than most modern hyper-casual games.

In an official post dedicated to the launch of GameSnacks, Google invites game developers to cooperate. She is also interested in partners who are ready to host a library of HTML5 games in their application.
