The other day, the continuation of the tactical turn–based strategy “about airplanes” from the creator of Civilizations – Sid Meyer was announced.

The first part – Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol – was released on the App Store in May this year. She did not show any high figures in the box office or high figures in the charts. However, it managed to become a cult project in a few circles.

Apparently, this turned out to be enough to launch a sequel – Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies, in which American and Japanese pilots of World War II will clash over airspace.

The game will be distributed not according to the freemium model, like its predecessor, but as a paid application. Perhaps, when making this decision, 2K Games looked back at the relatively successful experience of the XCOM mobile launch. But it’s one thing to launch a game ported from consoles under a high–profile brand and with a high price tag, and quite another – a far from untwisted title.

Anyway, the release of Sid Meier’s Ace Patrol: Pacific Skies is promised this fall.
