Facebook has signed its interest in cloud gaming. It acquired the developer of cloud solutions PlayGiga.

According to early information from CNBC, Facebook wanted to pay $78 million for the startup. The social network itself confirmed the deal, but did not share its details, including its final price.

At the same time, PlayGiga noted that they will continue to work in the field of cloud gaming and with Facebook. “Now — with a new mission,” the statement on the startup’s website says.

Based in Madrid, PlayGiga is a cloud technology service provider. He works with providers (including mobile ones) from Italy, Spain, Chile and Argentina. The startup also plans to expand to the Middle East.

Currently, two PlayGiga projects are known. The first is the development of streaming streaming technologies for 5G. The second is support for Intel’s own Visual Cloud—based gaming platform. With its help, communication providers offer customers more than 300 titles in the cloud, clarifies Gamesindustry.biz .

Let’s add that PlayGiga is Facebook’s second gaming acquisition in recent times. Recently, the social network bought the studio Beat Games, the authors of the VR hit Beat Saber. However, they have nothing to do with cloud gaming.
