Adobe has bought the Oculus Medium VR app. This is a step towards the company’s creation of a new line of 3D tools.

Oculus Medium is a software for creating three—dimensional art objects and texturing in virtual reality. It was released by Facebook three years ago. The app is designed for Oculus Rift and supports a tracking system for Oculus Touch controllers.

This purchase is part of Adobe’s investment program in the field of AR and 3D art. At the beginning of the year, the company acquired Allegorithmic, which created the Substance toolset. This team will include some Oculus Medium developers. The latter will complement the Substance toolkit, UploadVR writes.

Together, the developers will start creating 3D tools of a new generation, useful, including for game developers.

It is noted that while Oculus Medium will remain free for owners of Oculus helmets. But that may change in 2020, when Adobe introduces more features and improvements to the software.

We should add that among the giants, not only Adobe wants to develop augmented and virtual reality technologies. Apple, for example, took up the same task. She recently acquired a studio that specializes in AR/VR gaming technologies.
