Disney Corporation announced the “relaunch” of its gaming strategy and the formation of new relationships with partners in the creation of video games.
This was stated by the company’s executive director Kyle Laughlin during his speech at the Casual Connect USA gaming conference.
According to Laughlin, Disney intends to focus on new game genres, such as role-playing games and brawlers.
The new partners of Disney in the field of mobile games will be Ludia, Glu, Gameloft and PerBlue. Kyle Laughlin said that each of the companies is currently working on as yet unannounced projects about the franchises of the corporation. Disney will announce these games later.
Disney will also continue to work with Square Enix on the Kingdom Hearts III action role-playing game, which is due to be released this year on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Recall that in 2016, Disney completely moved away from independent video game development, dissolving the Avalanche game studio and removing two parts of Marvel from mobile app stores: Avengers Alliance.
