In China, the publishing house of the Android versions of the games Boom Beach, Clash of Clans and Hay Day will be engaged in the Beijing studio Kunlun Wanwei.
Despite the rapid growth of the Chinese mobile games market, which may well reach about $3 billion this year, it remains a very difficult territory for Western companies, which requires an individual approach. At least, this applies to the part of it where Android “reigns”.
In order to successfully sell their products on the Chinese market, some companies open their own representative offices in the country, others buy local studios, and others are looking for partners.
The Finnish Supercell followed the latter path, which recently signed a licensing agreement with Beijing’s Kunlun Wanwei. According to the agreement, the latter undertakes to publish and promote Supercell games on numerous Chinese Android platforms.
Kunlun Wanwei is not the smallest Chinese studio engaged in operating large-scale projects like Tera in China. At the end of April, it raised about $ 270 million on the regional stock exchange, a third of which it plans to spend on licensing mobile games.
