Blizzard sued the Chinese Sina Games for plagiarism. Images from the desktop Warcraft series, according to its authors, are used in the Glorious Saga mobile strategy.

World of Warcraft

According to Blizzard in its lawsuit against the studio, Glorious Saga is “almost entirely copied from the Warcraft series and related products.” For each case of copyright infringement, the company demands $150,000 from Sina Games, not counting lawyers’ fees.

Blizzard claims that “all monsters, creatures, animals and vehicles are copied from Warcraft.” Weapons, artifacts and other items were allegedly taken from them. Also, sound effects and soundtracks have been transferred to Glorious Saga, the lawsuit claims.

Judging by the gameplay video, the characters of Glorious Saga really resemble images from Warcraft. In the game Sina Games, there are also two opposing factions – the Alliance and the Horde. In addition, the Chinese icon of the game evokes associations with the “Battle for Azeroth”, writes Polygon.

Nevertheless, the mechanics of the mobile product are strikingly different from Warcraft.

Glorious Saga is distributed in China, but is also available in other regions via Google Play. There it is called Glorious World, and its developer is Instantfuns Games. Nevertheless, screenshots of the game give out the true name.

Let’s add that Blizzard caught Sina Games copying other famous franchises, such as Yu-Gi-Oh! and Naruto.
