The “apple” company has gaming ambitions. She plans to launch her own platform where games will be distributed by subscription. Moreover, she is currently negotiating to independently publish games.
It is assumed that the future platform will work similarly to Netflix. For a monthly fee, users will have the opportunity to play a set of titles.
So far, all this is unofficial. According to the business publication Cheddar, Apple began closed conversations with game developers about their participation in this service in the second half of 2018.
There are no additional details yet. The service is at an early stage of development.
Also part of the sources Cheddar noted that Apple is considering becoming a publisher for some games. Now it is unclear whether we are talking about her participation in the launch of games on a new platform, in the App Store or anywhere else.
Apple declined to comment.
However, the company’s content ambitions are obvious. And they are understandable. Against the background of not the most prosperous situation with sales of devices (the company may miss $ 9 billion by the end of the fourth quarter of 2018, despite the release of four new gadgets, which has already led to a reduction in iPhone production and indirectly layoffs), Apple is forced to strengthen its position in the market of services and software.
She has already started filming TV shows, now it’s her turn, apparently, for games.
